Have you ever started something and before you were finished, you let it die? Have you ever had an idea that you thought was the best in the world and yet took it nowhere? Have you ever seen a new product or service on the market and thought – “damn, I thought of that two years ago, I wish I went through with it”? I believe that one or all of the above has happened to us all, let’s bring our work Back from the Grave

The Side Hustle

I am an entrepreneur but it is not my main gig, it’s my side hustle and sometimes coming back from the grave is a hard state to be in. I work 8.5 hours per day, have a wife, two boys, and three dogs. I am a part of The Manitoba Business Alliance, I take karate, and have various other commitments throughout the week. In between it all, I manage time to run my side hustle, my business.

My business is a time consuming one, like any business should be right? After all, I’m a one-man-show and have to run solo with promotion, website design, logo design, MS Excel development, and social media training for my clients. Because of all this, there are days where I shut it all down and do nothing, for a time I’ll let my business die. Doing so makes me have to dig in, at some point, and bring my business back from the grave.

Frequent Business Death

I don’t mean going out of business, I’m talking about those times where you feel like doing nothing for a period of time. In this day and age, slowing down to a snail’s pace can literally kill your business online, making one have to bring it back from the grave.

At times, I do this! I will put in so much effort that I exhaust myself to the point of shutting the business right off. When I’m working for a client though, I don’t quit until I’m done and the client is happy. It’s my online presence that takes a hit though. Gary Vaynerchuk implies that the only way to make an online business work, you have to be at it with every possible minute you have. He’s not wrong, when I’m in that zone my business and my presence flourishes.

My Blog For Instance

My blog is what takes the biggest hit when I go into shutdown mode. When I purposely get busier with my social media campaigns, my blogging slows right down. All bloggers should be adding new content at least once per week in order to keep relevant with the Google search algorithm. It’s not that I don’t have content to write about – there’s endless content I could create here, but I find it to be difficult to motivate myself accordingly at times. Which brings me once again to having to come back from the grave.

Back From The Grave

Here I am, writing my first blog in weeks, looking to do what’s important for my business, bringing it back from the grave! I know what I have to do for my marketing campaign, and this is just as important as any other aspect. I’ve been at this for too long to ever quit and honestly, this is where my true passion (for now) lies. That’s what keeps me going everyday, my passion towards making business happen for upcoming entrepreneurs.

I hope you have a passion for something and I hope that you explore that passion from a business point of view. You may not think you can make money with it, but I can tell you that if passion is involved, you can and will make money from it. I can help with that and a great start is with a website/blog, somewhere to lead your potential customers/clients. Want to learn more? Back From The Grave

Remember, at the end of the day, you get out of your business what you put into it. Actually, you get more out of it than what you put into it – as long as you do it in a very positive way. It’s like the biblical quote, “you reap what you sow”, you’ll reap more than what you sow! You have to keep at it though, even when you’re tired and in the mood to quit. If you quit, I can guarantee you had no initial passion for your venture and it was doomed to fail because of that lack of passion.

How To Find Passion?

Finding your passion isn’t easy and yet it’s super easy! Confused yet? You have to ask yourself, “what do I love to do?” and come up with three to five things that you love doing. When you’ve thought of those three to five things, do them and decide for yourself. I promise you, if you have a passion and a love for whatever that thing is, there are thousands more that will share your love but will never take appropriate action. Out of those thousands you will get a healthy percentage of people that will be willing to pay you for your passion. Yes, it can be that simple.
